Monday 8/4

At the hospital
  • Today was a pretty boring, uncomfortable day. The buildup of abdominal fluid caused some breathing difficulty, so Rachel's on oxygen, and not able to talk much without resting.
  • In the late afternoon she went down to Interventional Radiology, where they sampled and drained the abdominal fluid (almost a gallon) and did the biopsy of the ovarian mass. Results in 1-2 days.
  • She was feeling a lot better after this, but tired.
  • Tomorrow morning she'll get the bone scan, to look for possible causes of the original rib/chest pain.

At home

  • The kids had fun at the Finamores all day. I brought them home for dinner (thanks, Evan!), and we were joined by Fiona McMahon, who's sleeping over.
  • Change in plans for this week: Cathy Giella is going to pick them up tomorrow afternoon and take them up to Lake Geneva, coming back either Thursday or Friday. That will make it really easy for me for these next critical days. So we're good for dinners for a few days -- how about:
    Thursday: Jane Berkley
    Friday: Laura Boylan

Thanks, everyone, for all your kind deeds and wishes. We feel blessed.

Pat
