Peaceful

Briefly:

Rach has been unconscious since late yesterday. No dialysis or procedures today, and her heartrate and blood pressure have been relatively stable. She's getting morphine and Ativan now to ensure she's not in any pain.

Her ventilator is now providing 100% oxygen, but her blood oxygen content is continuing to go down (now at 80% saturation) due to her pneumonia.

Visitors today started to refer to her in the past tense; this was jarring the first time, but it's seeming more normal.

I wore glasses today instead of contacts, knowing it would be a crying day. I'm spending the night here with her.

Dear Pat and family:

I know you know that so many hearts, prayers and tears, are, and have been with Rachel, you and the kids, and your families, and will continue to be. You have been a constant reminder to us of what really matters in life, and reminded and reinforced so much about courage, integrity, inspiration, and strength. Please God grant you all the strength to continue to make it through. So many hearts and prayers are there for all of you!

The warmest of wishes...

Pat,
So glad to know Rachel is resting comfortably and that you are right there by her side. May you continue to find strength during this difficult time. You, Rachel and the rest of your family are a constant presence in my thoughts and prayers.
